The Gas delivery stainless steel welded pipe family is designed specifically for the unique pressure and purity demands of natural gas, biogas, and hydrogen-blended distribution. Each length undergoes 100% eddy current or ultrasonic testing to detect sub-surface irregularities, and a final hydrostatic proof test per ASME B31.8 confirms the pipe’s ability to hold pressure well above the maximum allowable operating limit. The longitudinal weld seam is typically reduced by cold working and then solution annealed, which homogenizes the microstructure and eliminates carbide precipitation. This process yields a weld zone with tensile strength and ductility matching the base metal, so the entire pipe cross-section behaves uniformly under bending and axial loads. Standard delivery conditions include pickled and passivated surfaces to remove scale and promote a passive chromium oxide layer for decades of maintenance-free service underground or in coastal installations.
